This is a picture of an installed soil moisture probe at the upper bluff sight. We dug a pit 24-inches deep and put in probes at two different depths to measure the moisture content of the soil. The probe pictured at the right has been pushed into undisturbed soil of the pit wall. This type of installation gives us a better idea of the moisture content of undistrubed soil.

We will backfill and tamp the soil as we bury to devices. Because one more probe will be installed at 6 inches from the surface, we will mark off the area with small logs to discourage people from walking on top of our sampling spot.
