GETTING EGGS | |

In October of 2000 we traveled up the Tanana River in a 20 foot boat. Regardless of the gushes of water pouring into the Tanana River from the Delta River, the Tanana was freezing up. Many small and large pieces of floating "pan ice" crossed our path slowing our progress. A half-mile boat trip, which would normally take five minutes in the summertime, took nearly 20 minutes on this chilly October day.
We traveled up river until we reached a boat dock by the Alyeska pipeline and made our way to Clearwater River. There we joined Fish and Game biologists just in time for The Egg Take. |
